Differential Expression of the Genome Visualized with SDS-PAGE
Use SDS-PAGE to separate proteins from different tissues of the same organism as a way to investigate differential expression. Each cell of a eukaryote should contain the same genomic DNA, so what accounts for all of the different cell, tissues and organs that we see in complex organisms? Different proteins being expressed and even the levels they are being expressed at can produce these phenotypic differences and are readily available for students to visualize through gel electrophoresis. We will look at organisms that are easy to acquire from the grocery store and are not chordates.

This webinar will be presented by Damon Tighe, a former researcher at the Joint Genome Institute and high school teacher. He now supports educators in bringing contemporary biology techniques to their classrooms through the Bio-Rad Explorer program.

Note: No continuing education credits or certificates are being offered for attending this event. Attendees will receive an email after the event that they may use as proof of attendance.

This webinar will be recorded and emailed to all registrants.
