How I Built It: A Higher-Ed Biotech Program
Are you one of the many higher education institutions looking to bridge the gap between subject knowledge proficiency and practical laboratory skills deficiencies in your science curriculum?  Maybe you’re looking to invigorate your existing program or courses with contemporary laboratory experiences that engage your students with relevant biotechnology-infused activities?

Come join Ruth Wrightsman to discuss the benefits of a biotechnology-focused course or program in higher education and learn from her experience honed from decades of science teaching. Curricular design, course management and sustainability, recruiting students, and engaging stakeholders will also be discussed.

Ruth has over 35 years of higher education teaching at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, CA and Flathead Valley Community College in Kalispell, MT.  Her primary teaching focus is in microbiology, cell and molecular biology, and biotechnology. Ruth has mentored numerous teachers though biotechnology workshops and two NSF-ATE grants.  She has experience developing biotechnology programs, dual enrollment introductory biology courses and mentoring high school dual enrollment teachers. Having retired from FVCC in 2021, she continues to provide continuing education workshops for teachers as a current Bio-Rad Explorers Fellow and through activities with FVCC Continuing Education.

Note: No continuing education credits or certificates are being offered for attending this event. Attendees will receive an email after the event that they may use as proof of attendance.

This webinar will be recorded and emailed to all registrants.
